Faith Leaders Plan to Unite Saturday for 3rd Annual Prayer Event to Welcome the New Year

Published on Saturday, December 30, 2023 | 5:27 am

Over 100 multi-faith leaders from the Clergy Community Coalition (CCC) and Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance (IMA) plan to gather on the East Lawn of the Tournament House grounds today, December 30 to pray for a healthier, more peaceful, more just, and safer 2024.

The event, which leverages the 135-year history of the Tournament of Roses staging of America’s New Year Celebration, aims to exemplify what can be accomplished when communities work together.

The gathering comes in response to a year marked by widespread insecurity, from housing and the economy to employment, business, and health, organizers said.

Among the participants expected are Chris Holden, Assemblymember for the 41st Assembly District, Pastor Mayra Macedo-Nolan, Executive Director for the Clergy Community Coalition, and a representative from the Tournament of Roses.

The faith leaders will march north on Orange Grove Blvd. to the intersection at Colorado Blvd., known as TV Corner.

The day’s events will begin with a breakfast with dignitaries and speeches at Maranatha High School, located at 169 S. Saint John Ave. in West Pasadena.

The prayer, welcome, and march will begin at 11 a.m. at the Tournament House Grounds, East Lawn, located at 391 S. Orange Grove Blvd. in West Pasadena.
