First Presbyterian Church, Altadena: Mary Jane Tashiro Benefit Piano Concert-Aug. 18

A benefit concert will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Altadena, Church Sanctuary, Saturday, August 18 at 2:00pm. The concert will feature composer Mary Jane Tashiro. A free will donation will be taken at the door, and all proceeds will benefit CARES and Angel Interfaith Network (AIN).

Presbyterian Women will provide light refreshments at the conclusion of the concert. It all makes for a wonderful afternoon, good music, good friends, and good causes!

About Mary Jane Tashiro

Mary Jane Tashiro is a composer, pianist, teacher and publisher, taught at Cal State, University, L.A. and was the first woman graduate of the Equal Interval System of Horizontal Compositions by Lyle (Spud) Murphy. Her compositions premiered in Switzerland in February 1981. English pianist Jon Sivell received a standing ovation for performing her 1st two books called “Magical Moving Moments.” She has composed numerous pieces for several instruments as well as piano, and has done several commissioned pieces for Mr. Thomas Robb.

Ms. Tashiro has traveled the world performing and has played her works in Holland, Austria, Russia, Osaka, and Tokyo, as well as here in the United States in Los Angeles, and New York.

Mary Jane currently resides in Irvington, New York. Her sisters are Betty Mikuni and Peggy Mikuni, daughter Nancy (Joel) Castillo, grandsons, Jason and Jon Castillo, and great granddaughter, Zara Castillo.
