Four high-profile murder cases in Pasadena are set to return to courtrooms today, Thursday, March 14th. The cases involve a range of alleged crimes, from a man accused of murdering his wife and setting her remains on fire in Los Angeles to a suspect charged with fatally stabbing a homeless man in Pasadena.
In the first case, Valentino Gutierrez is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 8:30 a.m. in Department 32 of the Criminal Courts Building in Los Angeles. Gutierrez is charged with murdering his wife in Pasadena and then taking a train to Los Angeles, where he allegedly set the woman’s remains on fire in a suitcase in the parking lot of a Home Depot store.
The second case involves Aaron Miguel Conell, who is charged with murdering the younger brother of former Lakers star Michael Cooper at a Pasadena park. Conell’s preliminary hearing date is set to be scheduled at an 8:30 a.m. hearing in Department H of the Pasadena Courthouse.
Alexis Ibarra, charged in a shooting that left a 14-year-old boy dead and a 20-year-old man wounded in Pasadena, is scheduled for a pretrial hearing at 8:30 a.m. in Department F of the Pasadena Courthouse.
Lastly, Sadarius Lawson, who is charged with fatally stabbing a homeless man in Pasadena, is also scheduled for a pretrial hearing at 8:30 a.m. in Department F of the Pasadena Courthouse.
