Police are looking for two men who they say robbed a gardener of his leaf blower as the victim was working on a property in Pasadena on Wednesday afternoon.

The crime unfolded about 12:15 p.m. in the 2200 block of White Street as the victim was working, along with his father, Pasadena police Lt. Anthony Burgess said.

The victim, 18, noticed two men estimated to be in their mid-30s taking an electric leaf blower from his truck, he said.

He confronted the men as they loaded the device into a red minivan, according to the lieutenant.

During a brief struggle, the victim was punched several times and ultimately fell to the ground as the minivan sped off with the leaf blower, Burgess said. He suffered swelling and abrasions but declined medical treatment.

The minivan was last seen heading north on Craig Avenue, he added.

Anyone with information can reach the Pasadena Police Department at (626) 744-4501. Tips may also be submitted anonymously to L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.

  • Wow–what a tragedy. On another note I have been a “victim” of these cancer causing, smelly, noisy machines for my entire life. Poor baby dreamer is going to have to buy another one. What will Jose do without his favorite toy? I guess he will have to use a broomo or an el rako. I guess he can make as much pollution as he wants because you feel sorry for him but I can’t water my lawn on the wrong day or the eco-nazis will accuse me of destroying mother earth. As a third generation latino — NOT X! I say como lo siento sucker.
