Hike to Sandstone Peak with the Pasadena Hiking Pacers!

Published on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 | 12:34 pm

This week, the Pasadena Hiking Pacers are heading to Malibu for a hike to Sandstone Peak via the Mishe Mokwa Trail on Sunday, October 14 at 7:00 a.m. Sandstone Peak is the highest point in the Santa Monica Mountains with breathtaking views from Santa Barbara all the way to Santa Catalina on a clear day.

The hike will be 6.16 miles roundtrip with 1,400′ elevation gain/loss with a hiking difficulty of Level 3.

To go to the meeting location, take the 101 fwy North to Agoura Hills Exit Kanan Road and go west 6.2 miles then turn right onto Mulholland Drive and go about 1 mile (just past the winery), keep right at the fork to stay on Mullholland. At the T-junction, turn left to stay on Mullholland (aka Decker Canyon Rd), turn right onto Little Sycamore Canyon (which becomes Yerba Buena Road) and go 4 miles to trail head parking on your right. The road is a bit curvy for the last few miles.

It’s highly suggested to pull up Sandstone Peak on Google Maps (or click the map here) to get better acquainted with the directions to the trailhead. Don’t rely on cell service to get to the trailhead as there aren’t any for many miles. See everyone on Sunday!
