Late Councilmember Kennedy’s Turkey Giveaway to Continue

The John J. Kennedy Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway will continue.

Mayor Victor Gordo and District 1 Councilmember Tyron Hampton will pass out turkeys from 9 a.m. To 1 p.m. on Friday at the Alkebu-lan Cultural Center.

Kennedy, who died in July, passed out turkeys to local families every year.

More than 75 volunteers passed out approximately 1,510 turkeys and hams in 2020 and 2021. 

Volunteers included members of the Pasadena Police Department, the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, the Pasadena Fire Department, My Tribe Rise, Children Working to Save Our Planet, USMC-Pasadena, Blair Jr. ROTC, Deputy Police Chief Cheryl Moody, the Pasadena High School football team, Northwest Ambassadors, and members of the city of Pasadena’s Executive Leadership Team.

Kennedy began the event in 2013.
