LIVE BLOGGING WITH EDDIE RIVERA | Dodgers Sweep the Giants, 5-4; Ohtani Lights up the House with his First Dodger Home Run

All of the Dodgers’ weapons were on vivid display Wednesday, as they swept the San Francisco Giants at Dodger Stadium behind Tyler Glasnow’s sparkling pitching and a dramatic home run from Shohei Ohtani, his first this season.

How different is this season from previous ones? For one thing, the media interest is overwhelming, with the entire press box dining room converted to media work stations. Every available working space was filled as reporters from around the world vied to sit in the press box.

It was just an early season Wednesday night game, but the mood at Dodger Stadium is electric these days. The Giants were in town, the Dodgers were on the edge of a sweep, and it was a hoodie night, an admittedly magic combination.

Tyler Glasnow led the Dodger pitching, silencing the Giants through the sixth inning when the Giants suddenly came within one run of tying the game.

“With Glasnow, every time he gets the ball in his hand, you feel like you could see a no-hitter,” said Manager Dave Roberts.

Giants catcher Patrick Bailey sent a wicked home run into the bleachers in the sixth, but following that scare, Ohtani unleashed his home run, and Kelly, Daniel Hudson, and Dinelson Lamet retired the Giants 1-2-3, and the Giants are flying home, stunned.
The Dodgers will meet the Chicago Cubs in Chicago this weekend.
