The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, known as Metro, is inviting residents to participate in a live, interactive telephone town hall on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, starting at 6 p.m. The forum, part of Metro’s ongoing “Putting People First” engagement efforts, seeks to gather public feedback on transit priorities for the agency’s fiscal year 2025 budget.

Metro will randomly contact approximately 100,000 residents from various ethnic and economic backgrounds across the County using an automated telephone system. When residents answer their phones, they will be connected to the meeting in English, with the option for Spanish-language participants to select Spanish.

Participants can pre-register for the town hall at:

or join on the day of the event using the following toll-free numbers: 888-400-1932 for English and 888-400-9342 for Spanish. The meeting will also be accessible via webcast at:

https://janus.teletownhall.us/?id=Metro&eid=102025 (English) and https://janus.teletownhall.us/?id=Metro-sp&eid=102026 (Spanish).

During the telephone town hall, residents will have the opportunity to share comments and feedback on Metro’s initiatives, such as expanding and improving service, elevating the transit experience, and ensuring safety. “Public participation and input are important so that the budget under development reflects the needs and priorities of the public,” Metro said in a statement, encouraging “all Angelenos to participate and offer their input on the kinds of work and projects that should be prioritized in the fiscal year 25 budget.”

The event will be recorded and made available to the public and the news media. Those requiring an interpreter or other accommodations should contact Metro at least 72 hours prior to the meeting at 323-466-3876 or California Relay Service at 711.

The telephone town hall is part of Metro’s annual budgeting process, which begins with forecasting available resources for the upcoming year and includes extensive outreach to key stakeholder groups, customers, and the public. The fiscal year 2025 budget process will conclude with a legally required public hearing in mid-May 2024, followed by the budget’s adoption at the Metro Board of Directors’ meeting on May 23, 2024.
