Los Angeles Police Car Chase Ends Near Rose Bowl, One Arrested

A car chase that started in northeastern Los Angeles Monday morning ended up near the Rose Bowl in Pasadena where what turned out to be a stolen vehicle crashed into the curb.

The Los Angeles Police Department said the chase started in the vicinity of Figueroa Street when their officers tried to conduct a traffic stop on a suspected stolen vehicle.

“The pursuit began at 4:42 this morning, in our northeast division in the area of Figueroa and Avenue 43,” Officer Rosario Herrera of LAPD Media Relations said. “It ended in the City of Pasadena at 4:49 and the stolen vehicle and one suspect was taken into custody.”

At the Pasadena Police Department, Lt. Pete Hettema said they were informed about the incident after the suspect vehicle crossed into Pasadena.

“From what I know the vehicle was stolen; they chased it from down on upper Figueroa, kicked into the Rose Bowl area, crashed up against the curb at Mira Vista and Linda Vista,” Hettema said. “Two people bailed out of the car and they took one into custody they believe was the driver.”

Hettema said Pasadena police officers helped search the surrounding areas for the other suspect.

“We searched several yards right in the vicinity but did not find anybody,” he said. He added an airship (police helicopter) from LAPD also took part in searching the hillside areas but did not find the other suspect either.

LAPD could not immediately release the name of the arrested suspect, but Hettema said the other suspect was male, Hispanic, head shaved, and wearing a tan shirt and denim pants.
