Man Found in Arroyo Covered With Severe Burns Dies in Hospital

[Updated] A man in his 30s who was found by firefighters with severe burns all over his body Friday near the 700 block of Rockwood Road after a passerby called 911 has died in a local hospital, according to authorities.

Pasadena Fire Dept. firefighters and paramedics extricated the patient from near the wash about 7:40 a.m. and transported him to a local hospital, where he passed away.

He had not been identified as of Friday evening, according to a city spokesperson.

“We are treating the death as suspicious in nature and will have to wait for a determination as to the cause of death from the coroner’s office,” a police spokesman said. “Detectives have responded to gather as much information as possible.”

A Pasadena Fire Dept. arson investigator and Pasadena police homicide detectives are investigating.
