A fight between two cousins at Memorial Park in Pasadena on Sunday ended with one of them hospitalized in critical condition with a stab wound to his neck and the other in jail on suspicion of attempted murder, authorities said.
Police responded to the area of Huntington Hospital after a man was seen with blood on him at about 12:50 p.m., Pasadena police Lt. Sean Dawkins said. They located a man ultimately identified as Dijon Don Gray, 27, of Pasadena along Congress Street and detained him.
Around the same time, officials at the hospital notified police that a man in his 20s had arrived in the emergency room in critical condition with a stab wound to his neck, according to the lieutenant.
An investigation determined Gray and his cousin had gotten into a fight in a parking lot at Memorial Park, 85 E. Holly Street, near the Pasadena Senior Center, Dawkins said.
It was unclear how both men ended up at the hospital, although a vehicle believed to have been associated with the incident was found nearby.
According to Los Angeles County booking records, bail for Gray was set at $2 million pending his initial court appearance, scheduled for Tuesday in the Pasadena branch of L.A. County Superior Court.
