A man showed up at a hospital with multiple gunshot wounds following a shooting that appeared to stem from a road rage incident in Pasadena Wednesday night, officials said.
The shooting occurred at about 9 p.m. near the intersection of Lake Avenue and Villa Street, said Pasadena police Lt. Pete Hettema.
Officers responded to reports of gunshots heard in the area but did not immediately find any victims or evidence of a shooting, the lieutenant said. But a short time later, a local hospital notified police that a man had arrived at the emergency room with gunshot wounds.
The man, described as 50 years old, was hospitalized with “major” injuries, but was expected to survive, Hettema said.
As the investigation continued, police found a witness who reported two vehicles had become involved in a road rage incident, he said. Both vehicles pulled to the curb.
Gunshots were then heard and a male was seen running from the area before both cars sped away, according to Hettema.
The vehicle sought in connection with the shooting was initially described as a late-model white or silver Mercedes-Benz SUV.
Police continued seeking additional witnesses and evidence Thursday.
