Pasadena Mayor Bill Bogaard was presented with the Junior League of Pasadena’s first-ever Community Impact Award at Simply Speaking, the League’s annual benefit luncheon, held Saturday at the University Club and attended by over 150.

The award is in recognition of the Mayor’s continued service and contributions to the Pasadena community, his notable career in public service and his dedication to the Junior League of Pasadena, as a longtime member of their Community Advisory Board.

Jane Popovich was presented with the 2015 Nancy Reed Payne Achievement Award. This award recognizes a sustaining member for her exceptional volunteer contribution and years of dedication to the Junior League and to her community.

The Simply Speaking luncheon also featured keynote speaker Jane Olson, who is a notable humanitarian who has devoted her life to international justice and humanitarian work.

Founded in 1926, the Junior League of Pasadena’s mission is to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women, and improve the local community. Throughout its 89-year history, the JLP has helped to create programs that leave a long-lasting impact on the Pasadena community. Past JLP projects include Kidspace Children’s Museum, the docent program at the Huntington Library, and La Casita at Madison Elementary in Northwest Pasadena.
