National security advisor to President Donald Trump Robert O’Brien is working from home in Pasadena after testing positive for the novel coronavirus, according to multiple published reports.
O’Brien abruptly left the White House on Thursday and has been working from home ever since, CNN reported.
He resides with his family in the Linda Vista area, where they moved from La Cañada Flintridge about two and a half years ago.
He “has mild symptoms and has been self-isolating and working from a secure location off site,” the White House said in a statement to Bloomberg News. “There is no risk of exposure to the president or the vice president.”
O’Brien recently returned from a trip to Europe, CNN reported. His last public appearance alongside Trump was on July 10 in Miami.
O’Brien was selected as national security advisor last year. He previously served as Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs at the U.S. Department of State and Co-Chairman of the U.S. Department of State Public-Private Partnership for Justice Reform in Afghanistan, according to the State Department. He is also a co-founding partner of the Larson O’Brien LLP law firm in Los Angeles.
