Need School Books? Try Book Rack

School’s starting and your child has a reading list a mile long. You could get the books from the library but the last library book they had ended up in who-knows-who’s backpack and then disappeared into the ether. That cost you. The only other alternative is to buy them new at the bookstore or is it?

The Book Rack in Arcadia carries many gently-used classics like Moby Dick, To Kill a Mockingbird and the Scarlet Letter. Why buy new when you can get used?

And if saving on your purchase wasn’t enough, when your child is through with the book you can sell it back to Book Rack and get store credit for the next round of books. (Or maybe one for yourself, a good mystery perhaps?)
High school students, especially from Arcadia, Monrovia, Temple City, and Alverno, come to the book store to read and most of them get their school reading lists at Book Rack.

“We’ve been really lucky with schools,” said Karen Kropp, the owner, adding that the staff at Book Rack has really been keeping an eye out to assist customers especially in their search for titles.

Buying used serves a dual purpose not only do you pay a fraction of the cost of new but you are doing your part to keep the planet green. Fewer books printed means fewer trees destroyed. And I don’t know about you but I can’t throw a book away and am thrilled when it not only gets recycled for another reader but I get credit to buy more!
