Next Election Update Scheduled for Tuesday

Not many ballots remain to be counted

Less than 100,00 votes cast in the Nov. 3 election remain to be counted, according to Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean C. Logan.

All told, there are 98,440 outstanding ballots to be processed.

According to an estimate, there are 44,350 vote-by-mail ballots, 47,100 conditional voter registration ballots, 1,170 provisional ballots, and 5,820 miscellaneous ballots to be counted.

“All outstanding ballots are verified before being tallied,” according to a statement issued by Logan’s office.

The next election update is set for Tuesday, November 17. 

In local elections, ballot tallies continue to hold.

In the mayor’s race, City Councilmember Victor Gordo maintains a wide lead over incumbent Mayor Terry Tornek, taking 36,745 votes compared to 30,293 ballots cast for Tornek.

In Board of Education races, Jennifer Hall Lee leads Wayne Hammack in District 2 with 6,671 votes to Hammock’s 4,159 votes. Mike Crowley came in third with 3,941 of the ballots cast.

Board of Education President Patrick Cahalan has 6,576 votes in his race for re-election to the District 4 seat against Scott Harden, who trails with 3,729 votes.

In District 6, Tina Wu Fredericks has 4,991 votes. Priscilla Hernandez came in second with 3,880 votes, Crystal Czubernat won 3,463 votes, and Milena Albert had 1,178 of the ballots cast.
