Parolee Accused of Threatening Ex-Girlfriend With Gun in Pasadena

Police arrested a parolee Thursday after they say he threatened his ex-girlfriend with a gun in Pasadena.

Dionza Lamont  Blue, 26, of Van Nuys was booked on suspicion of domestic violence and weapon-related violation following the incident, which unfolded just before 10 a.m. in the 200 block of North El Molino Avenue, according to Pasadena police officials and Los Angeles County booking records.

Officers responded to a report of a loud argument heard between a man and woman when they encountered the victim, described as a woman in her mid-20s, Pasadena police Lt. Marcia Taglioretti said.

The woman relayed that her ex-boyfriend had just pointed a handgun at her and threatened to shoot her if she called the police, according to the lieutenant. The woman suffered cuts to her hands during the alleged attack but did not require hospitalization.

The suspect had already left when officers arrived, Taglioretti said. But officers soon spotted him less than a mile away along Michigan Avenue, just north of Maple Street.

Blue was taken into custody without a struggle and a handgun was found discarded near the spot where Blue was encountered, she said.

At the time of Thursday’s arrest, Blue was already out on bail following a prior felony arrest in Glendale on March 6, according to county booking records. Details regarding the incident in Glendale were not available Friday morning.

According to L.A. County Superior Court records, Blue has prior convictions for burglary in 2019 and recklessly evading police in a motor vehicle in 2016.

Bail for Blue was set at $50,000 pending his initial court appearance.
