On Sunday, churches across Pasadena will celebrate Easter Sunday with a variety of in-person and online services.

Throughout Los Angeles County, Easter will be marked not only by Masses and services in churches, but also by sunrise services at beaches and Forest Lawn cemeteries and The Midnight Mission’s traditional celebration.

Easter is at the heart of Christianity and is the most important date on the Christian religious calendar. Easter Sunday marks the culmination of events that occurred during Holy Week and shaped the beliefs and teachings of an entire faith.

In Pasadena at All Saints Church, a Festive Eucharist was scheduled for 7:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m., and 11:15 a.m.where the resurrection was to be celebrated amidst a blaze of candles and beautiful flowers. Rev. Mike Kinman was set to deliver a sermon, while Kyla McCarrel would offer music at 7:00 a.m., and the Coventry and Canterbury Choirs, Trouvères, and soloists would perform at 9:00 and 11:15 am.

Unite Church is hosting an Easter celebration at 9 a.m. at 1727 Kinneloa Canyon Road in East Pasadena. Families can enjoy free food, games, an Easter egg hunt, and crafts after the service. UniteKids is available for children aged 2-11. For those who prefer an online experience, they can subscribe to the Unite Channel on the YouTube app using Roku, Apple TV, or Xbox, or visit the Unite Church website at unite.online.church. More information about this event can be found at easterinpasadena.com.

Meanwhile, Lake Avenue Church was set to host an outdoor sunrise service at 7:00 a.m., followed by an all-church service in their Worship Center and online at 9:30 am. The service was designed to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ through song, prayer, listening, and fellowship, with Senior Pastor Mathew P. John delivering a special Easter message. Parents were invited to bring children ages Kindergarten and up to join in the celebration in the Worship Center, where activity packets for children and students would be available at the doors.

First United Methodist Church Pasadena planned a service in their sanctuary at 10:00 a.m., which would include choirs, brass ensemble, and pipe organ. Following the service, an Easter Egg hunt was organized for young people in front of the church.

St. Barnabas Episcopal Church opened its doors to all, offering in-person, online, offline, and pastoral care options for those who wished to join their service.
