[UPDATED] A strike team of Pasadena Fire Department firefighters has deployed to help their counterparts in Orange County battle the raging Blue Ridge Fire, officials said.

Two engine crews composed of six firefighters, two fire captains, and a battalion chief departed for the wildfire on Monday night, said city spokesperson Lisa Derderian.

The Blue Ridge Fire broke out Monday and had grown to 8,000 acres in size by Tuesday morning, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

Ten homes had been damaged in the Yorba Linda area, and others were also potentially in the path of the fire in Chino Hills, officials said. Evacuation orders were issued for the Carbon Canyon area.

No containment lines had been established, but fire officials said they were confident that decreased wind activity would allow for aircraft to help make progress against the flames on Tuesday.
