A residential burglary in Pasadena on Wednesday resulted in the theft of approximately $300,000 worth of valuables, including jewelry, designer purses, and two handguns, the police said.
The burglary occurred between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. at a home in the 3600 block of Pear Orchard Lane, according to Lieutenant Edgar Sanchez.
The 55-year-old male victim, a resident of Pasadena, reported that he had secured his home around 11:30 a.m. and returned at about 2 p.m. to find the back gate open and the master bedroom ransacked, Lieutenant Sanchez said.
The victim discovered that the window leading to the patio attached to the master bedroom had been shattered and a mounted safe containing the valuables had been removed, the police said. The stolen items included miscellaneous jewelry, designer purses, and two handguns, a .40-caliber and a 9-millimeter, all of which were reportedly stored in the safe.
While the victim was unable to access any video surveillance at the time of the report, a neighbor’s surveillance camera captured two suspects wearing black hoodies, though the footage provided limited information, Lieutenant Sanchez said. No witnesses to the burglary were immediately identified, and officers canvassed the area for the suspects, he added.
The department’s major crimes unit is investigating the incident.
