For the second night in a row, gunfire erupted in a Pasadena neighborhood near Robinson Park late Tuesday, but the intended target apparently escaped injury, police said.
The shooting was reported just after 9:30 p.m. in the area of Hammond Street and Sunset Avenue, just a few hundred feet west of the scene of another shooting that took place on Monday night, according to Pasadena police Lt. Pete Hettema.
Several people called police to report hearing five to 10 gunshots, said Hettema.
Further investigation indicated a man had been riding east on Hammond Street on a minibike when someone opened fire on him from a car heading west on Hammond Street, Hettema said. The car involved in the attack was last seen speeding south on Sunset Avenue.
Officers searched the area but found no victim, he said.
A black Honda Civic with a spoiler and a loud exhaust was seen in the area. However, it was not yet clear whether the shots were fired from that car.
The shooting came less than 24 hours after another in the same neighborhood in which more than 30 rounds were fired, police said.
Monday’s incident took place shortly before 10:30 p.m. at Hammond Street and Morton Avenue, police said. Multiple shooters were believed to have been involved, but no victims were discovered in the wake of the gunfire.
