Pasadena PIO Confirms Retirement Plans

Pasadena Public Information Officer Ann Erdman has confirmed that she will be retiring on March 30 after serving the city for more than 30 years in response to questions from Pasadena Now.

“I have had a 38-year career with 25 of those years in public service (20 in Pasadena).  After a catastrophic medical event in July that was truly life-changing, I have decided to hang up my PIO hat and become a private citizen again,” Erdman said.

Erdman was recently treated for a life-threatening condition and hospitalized for almost a month.

“I will continue to live in Pasadena, which has been my home for nearly 21 years.  I’m looking forward to being able to visit my children and grandchildren more often, travel whenever I have a hankering to do so, do some pro bono publicity/marketing consulting with some local non-profits on my time and my terms, and hold court on my front porch,” she said.

Erdman started serving as PIO of Pasadena on Jan. 2, 1991 after working as public information officer for Palm Springs.
