A San Fernando man wanted for a felony was shot and killed by Pasadena police officers Saturday night after leading them on a vehicle chase that ended with the suspect’s truck crashing into a parked vehicle, according to authorities.

The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Ricardo Guade Andrade, narrowly missed striking a Pasadena officer with his truck as he sped away from police who were investigating his vehicle as being “suspicious.”.

The incident began at 8:39 p.m. on April 13 when Pasadena Police Department officers contacted Andrade, who was in a white pick-up truck parked the wrong way on Hudson Avenue, a one-way street near Del Mar Boulevard.

“As officers were conducting their investigation and conversing with the driver, he suddenly sped off,” the police said in a statement. “While doing so, the suspect narrowly missed striking an officer with his truck.”

Wanted for assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, Andrade led officers on a short vehicle pursuit that ended when he crashed into the front yard of a home on Arden Road.

He then fled on foot into the residential neighborhood as officers established a containment perimeter and began searching yards.

During his flight, Andrade “forcibly entered two occupied residences,” according to the police statement.

With the assistance of a police airship, officers located Andrade in the rear yard of a property in the 700 block of Oak Knoll Circle. A police dog was the first to contact Andrade, but he still refused to surrender.

“As the K9 dog was engaged with the suspect, the suspect produced a handgun,” the police said. “The suspect refused to comply with orders to drop the handgun and an officer-involved shooting occurred.”

Andrade sustained gunshot wounds and, despite officers and then paramedics performing life-saving measures, was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

A handgun was recovered at the scene, according to police.

The shooting is being investigated by detectives from the Pasadena Police Department’s Robbery/Homicide Unit, along with separate inquiries by the department’s internal affairs division and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
