Pasadena Unified Starts Open Enrollment for 2014

The Pasadena Unified School District has announced that its open enrollment priority registration for school year 2014 to 2015 will run from Tuesday, November 12 until the noon of Tuesday, November 26.

Open Enrollment is PUSD’s school of choice program that enables students from Altadena, Pasadena and Sierra Madre to attend schools outside of their neighborhood school’s attendance boundaries.

Each year, schools project student enrollment based on demographic data about the number of school-age children residing within a campus’ attendance boundaries. Any seats not occupied by neighborhood students are made available for Open Enrollment through a random lottery. A student does not have to annually reapply once enrolled.

The sibling of a student currently attending a PUSD school on a permit may also apply for pre-registration. To qualify, siblings need to be attending the same school together next year. Sibling registration takes place at the schools.

Enrollment may be done at the individual school sites. PUSD reminded the students to bring the following requirements upon enrollment: original birth certificate, most recent immunization and vaccination record, first and second proofs of residency, school transcript and Individualized Education Program or 504 Plan, if applicable.

Pasadena Unified School District is located at 351 South Hudson Ave. For more information, call (626) 396-3600 or visit http://www.pusd.us.
