Coroner’s officials have released the identity of a 23-year-old Pasadena woman who died when her car crashed into a light pole on Sunday morning, leaving a man riding as a passenger hospitalized in critical condition, authorities said.
Haidee Evelyn Ruiz died in the 3 a.m. crash, which took place along Orange Grove Boulevard, just west of Craig Avenue, according to Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner spokesman Sarah Ardalani.
She was at the wheel of a Toyota Camry that struck a light pole, said Pasadena police Lt. Sean Dawkins.
Paramedics pronounced Ruiz dead at the scene, officials said. Her passenger, described as a 26-year-old man, was taken to a hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
The cause and circumstances of the crash were being investigated by the Pasadena Police Department’s Traffic Section.
