A man seen running through the Pasadena City College brandishing a handgun was arrested blocks away after being spotted in the evening dusk by a police helicopter.
Authorities said campus police watching live surveillance video saw a man running across the campus who appeared to be carrying a semi-automatic gun shortly before 7 p.m. They notified Pasadena police.
The campus was empty because of the Memorial Day Holiday.
Responding police were searching in the areas the man was headed when last seen when a police helicopter spotted two men, one of whom matched the suspects description, near Hill Avenue and Locust Street.
Ground patrol units stopped the men. One of the men, Brenton Reed, 20, of Los Angeles, was found to be carrying a .32-caliber semi-automatic handgun, authorities said.
Video footage confirmed the running gunman was Reed, authorities said.
Reed is a PCC student, Lt. Mark Goodman told the Pasadena Star-News.
