Planned Parenthood Offers COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics in San Gabriel Valley

[UPDATED] Planned Parenthood Pasadena & San Gabriel Valley is rolling out regular rotating COVID-19 vaccination clinics for county residents 18 and older at its five health centers, including the one in Pasadena, the organization has announced.

The clinics are to be held on Wednesdays, starting next week, at the PPPSGV Health Center, 1045 N. Lake Ave., the organization said in a written statement.

“As a trusted health care provider, Planned Parenthood Pasadena & San Gabriel Valley is committed to providing vaccines equitably and to those hardest to reach throughout Los Angeles County,” according to the statement.

In addition, clinics will be held Mondays at the PPPSGV health center in Glendora, Tuesdays in Alhambra, Thursdays in Highland Park and Fridays in Baldwin Park, representatives said.

Appointments can be scheduled online, or those interested can sign up for waiting lists if none are available.

“As an early provider of the Covid-19 vaccine, first reaching seniors and healthcare workers – including its own health center staff — PPPSGV serves as an important complement to mass-vaccination sites, reaching patients who typically have the hardest time accessing care and are more heavily impacted by COVID-19,” the statement said.

“Seen as a trusted provider among community members disenfranchised by the larger healthcare system, PPPSGV leverages well-established relationships with the community, shares medically accurate information, and helps patients navigate structural barriers like language and transportation,” the statement continues.

PPPSGV President and CEO Sheri Bonner said the organization was proud to play a role in combating the pandemic.

“Our COVID-19 vaccine clinic is centered on providing access to people heavily impacted by the pandemic. We saw a need to provide equitable vaccine access to hard-to-reach communities, and knew it was our duty as a trusted health care provider to step in to help,” she said.

“We quickly established a community clinic vaccination model that stands as a necessary alternative to mass-vaccination sites,” Bonner added. “Our vaccine clinic gets our patients vaccinated by a medical provider they trust, in a quick and efficient manner, and in a health facility in their community. We’re committed to getting as many shots in arms as we can and doing our part to help stop the spread of COVID-19.”
