Police Issue Rose Bowl Traffic Advisory for International Soccer Matches this Week

Published on Monday, June 6, 2016 | 3:54 pm

Soccer fans visiting the Rose Bowl in Pasadena to watch the upcoming Copa America Centenario matches should plan alternative means of travel besides personal cars and expect heavy crowds and traffic around the area Tuesday through Thursday, the Pasadena Police Department said.

On Tuesday, June 7, Colombia is playing against Paraguay starting at 7:30 p.m., and Mexico comes up against Jamaica on Thursday, June 9, 7 p.m. at the Rose Bowl.

To get to the Rose Bowl on time, the Pasadena Police Department said fans should look at other means of travel including riding the Gold Line into Pasadena. Gold Line passengers may exit at the Memorial Park Station on Holly Street and take the Rose Bowl shuttle from Parson’s parking lot, located two west block of Gold Line at Holly Street and Fair Oaks Avenue.

Carpooling is also strongly advised.

Authorities will implement road closures near the Rose Bowl at 10 a.m. on both dates of the soccer matches. Fan Plaza and amplified sound begins in Area H at 3 p.m., and Rose Bowl parking lots open at 3:30 p.m. After the games, event and amplified sound concludes at 10 p.m., according to the Rose Bowl management.

Also due to the soccer matches, for safety and security purposes, stadium lights will be on throughout much of the night from Thursday, June 2, to Friday, June 10, and will be turned off at the earliest time each night.

Recreational activity will be close at 10 a.m. each match day. The equestrian loop will remain open at all times.

Meanwhile, the Rose Bowl Operating Company has expanded staffing throughout the neighborhoods adjacent to the Rose Bowl Stadium to address any event day concerns as they occur. To receive assistance before, during or after the concert, please contact the Rose Bowl Event Day Hotline at the

Resident Hotline, (626) 397-4141.
