A June 11 preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Pasadena resident Jeremy Millan Drew who was booked on suspicion of felony drunken and was being held at the Men’s Central Jail on the outskirts of Downtown Los Angeles, authorities said.
Drew, 39, was charged today with one count of felony hit and run, two counts of child endangerment and two counts of felony drunken driving, the California Highway Patrol said.
Drew pleaded not guilty to all counts, a Pasadena Superior Court judicial assistant told the Pasadena Star-News. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled in Department D.
Drew was accused of being drunk when he crashed a 1992 Chevrolet Suburban on the eastbound Ventura (134) Freeway, just east of San Rafael Avenue. The crash was reported to the CHP at 11:13 p.m. Saturday and it critically injured a passenger.
Drew reportedly fled the scene on foot with two young children.
Firefighters had to cut open the SUV to free the man from the crash. Drew, a 6-foot, 5-inch tall, 320 pound man, fled the scene just prior to the arrival of law enforcement, the California Highway Patrol told the Star-News.
CHP officers found Drew and the two children at Orange Grove Boulevard and Live Oaks Avenue, just under a mile away from the crash scene, the newspaper reported.
Drew was treated for minor to moderate injuries and the children were treated for minor injuries, the Star-News reported.
He is being held today at the Men’s Central Jail on the outskirts of Downtown Los Angeles where he is being in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Drew was taken to the Men’s Central Jail at 1:28 a.m. Monday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Inmate Information Center.
