Saturday Marks Deadline for Video Submissions for Virtual Doo Dah Parade

Organizers tout ‘an experience that will project your spirit through time and space’

Time is running out for the public to submit videos to be included in the virtual incarnation of the 43rd Occasional Doo Dah Parade later this month.

This year, Doo Dah is “transcending the pandemic by stepping into the 2nd dimension,” organizers said in a written statement.

Since COVID-19 is preventing the traditional celebration of art, creativity and eccentricity from marching along a portion of East Colorado Boulevard, the Doo Dah Parade is encouraging the community to “Let your freak flags fly!” by sharing videos to be included in an online event, to be unleashed on an unsuspecting world on Nov. 22.

“The role of a lifetime awaits you in an experience that will project your spirit through time and space, in order to bring joy to both present and future generations,” according to the statement. “Ultimately, your submissions will form part of the video time capsule, ‘DOO DAH 2020 IN 2-D!’ which will mix the past with the present to form this thrilling film!”

“Whether you’re a wild and wacky one-person act, or you have a crew of freaks with whom you can (safely!) collaborate to get creative and create some sort of spectacle, all you need to do is record yourselves, and send it to us” the statement said.

“Record you and your friends marching or driving along (once again — safely!), as it would be seen by someone sitting along the parade route. All you need to do is strut your stuff while showing off whatever-the-heck it is you want to show us.”

The event is being presented by the Light Bringer Project and the Rock N’ Roll Preservations Society.

Submissions are only being accepted via email at DooDahParade2020@gmail.com.

More information, including a complete list of submission guidelines, is available on the Doo Dah Parade website at pasadenadoodahparade.info.
