[Updated] For the first time since Saturday, Pasadena will not be under a curfew.

LA County officials announced early Thursday, there were no plans for a curfew in the county’s 88 cities, although the cities can opt to set their own depending on local issues.

The decision was announced hours after Sheriff Alex Villanueva said earlier that his department will no longer enforce curfews.

“Based upon current situational awareness and the recent pattern of peaceful actions by protesters, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (@LASDHQ) will no longer enforce a curfew,” Villanueva said on Thursday. “Other jurisdictions are free to make their own decisions.”

Individual cities can set and enforce curfews, but most of the 88 cities in Los Angeles County were following the county curfew.

Curfews have been in effect in Pasadena since Saturday, but there has been no mass looting in the city.

At least two protests drew massive crowds and in each case, protesters remained peaceful.
