A man and woman escaped serious injury when a gunman opened fire on their car Tuesday night in a Pasadena residential neighborhood, officials said.

The gunfire was first reported about 8:35 p.m. in the 1900 block of Navarro Avenue, said Pasadena police Lt. Pete Hettema.

Multiple witnesses called 911 to report hearing gunshots, Hettema said. Officers found signs of a shooting at the scene, but no victims or suspects.

Minutes later, a man and woman in their 30s arrived at the Pasadena Police Department to report they had just been attacked, according to the lieutenant.

They had been in the neighborhood and were just leaving when bullets began striking their car, he said. One of the victims suffered a minor injury after being hit by flying glass, but neither was struck by the gunfire.

The shooter was initially described as a man in his 20s or 30s, about six feet tall and wielding a black handgun.

A motive for the shooting was not clear.
