Spring Cleaning Takes on New Meaning as Donations Support Community

First United Methodist Church Pasadena and ACTS Thrift Store partner to empower those in need through clothing donations

As the season of spring cleaning arrives, First United Methodist Church Pasadena and ACTS Thrift Store are joining forces to encourage residents to donate their gently used items, transforming the annual ritual of decluttering into a meaningful way to support those in need within the community.

The church’s Community Pantry, which has been serving the local community, recently announced that it will no longer distribute used clothing and shoes due to growing client numbers and fewer volunteers. However, the church has formed a partnership with ACTS Thrift Store to ensure that clothing donations continue to make a difference in the lives of individuals facing hardship.

The thrift store, located at 1311 N. Altadena Dr. in Pasadena, will be accepting a wide range of donations, including clothing, shoes, hats, bags, books, household goods, and accessories. By donating these items on behalf of Friends In Deed, a local nonprofit organization, donors provide a store credit that allows the church’s clients to shop for themselves, promoting a sense of empowerment and dignity.

The partnership between First United Methodist Church Pasadena and ACTS Thrift Store not only addresses the immediate needs of the community but also promotes sustainable practices by giving gently used items a second life and reducing waste.
