A man allegedly followed a woman and evaded police after a high-speed police pursuit in Pasadena on Monday.
According to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Edgar Sanchez, the incident began at 5:09 p.m. in the 500 block of Allendale Road when officers responded to a call about a suspicious person.
Sanchez reported the victim said that an unknown male was following her.
Officers found the man and conducted a field interview, Sanchez said. The man told officers he would leave the area.
But, according to Sanchez, about one hour later, the victim’s husband called officers back to the location and told them the man had returned.
Upon responding the second time, officers reportedly found the man sitting in his vehicle. When asked for identification, the suspect reportedly handed his drivers license to the officers but then snatched it back and fled at a high rate of speed.
Officers pursued the suspect but he then accelerated and evaded the officers.
A patrol sergeant canceled the pursuit after about a half-mile.
The suspect, described as a 30-year-old white man from Los Angeles, was identified by officers who plan to conduct a follow-up investigation. The reason for the suspect allegedly following the woman remains unknown.
