According to a statement from Union Station, the agency needs donations to continue services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“If you are a supporter of our life-saving programs, please know that we need your support now more than ever,” wrote Anne Miskey, Union Station CEO.
Union Station is the San Gabriel Valley’s largest social service agency assisting homeless and very low-income adults and families.
According to Miskey, “the donations will be used for increased staffing needs in kitchen and bridge housing in lieu of volunteer support; donations to support additional food items, including increased breakfast and lunch service for kids who are now home from school, as well as our residents and unaltered neighbors; and grocery, food and pharmacy gift cards for our many food-insecure clients, who may not have access to their local food banks during this time.”
Helpful gifts cards include Ralphs, Kroger, Vons, Albertsons, Safeway, Smart & Final, Walgreens, CVS, and 7-11.
Union Station also needs large portable hand-washing stations, disposable utensils, plates, and cups, large hand-sanitizing dispensers with refills, disposable or no-touch thermometers, protective masks, gloves and eyewear.
“Please know that we do not take lightly the responsibility of protecting our clients, many of whom are vulnerable, aging and have serious health concerns,” Miskey said. “We are continuously monitoring public health department recommendations, and we are doing all we can to be at the forefront of new precautionary measures regarding COVID-19 to protect our clients as well as our volunteers and staff.”
Please deliver in-kind donations to our administrative offices located at 825 E. Orange Grove Blvd., Pasadena, 91104. Deliveries can be made Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm.
