Authorities on Wednesday identified a woman who was found dead under suspicious circumstances at Hahamongna Watershed Park in Pasadena on Tuesday as a Glendale resident and a program director at Union Station Homeless Services.
Elena L. Ledford, 49, was pronounced dead shortly after a jogger reported finding her unresponsive shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday near the picnic table area at the park, just southeast of the intersection of Oak Grove Drive and Foothill Boulevard, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner and Pasadena police officials.
Her body showed signs of “visible physical injuries” and detectives suspected foul play in her death, police said in a written statement. A cause of death had not been released Wednesday, and investigators stopped short of labeling the death a homicide.
An autopsy was pending, coroner’s officials said.
Ledford’s Facebook page described her as a program manager at Union Station Homeless Services in Pasadena. A Union Station annual report from 2018 also lists Ledford as a staff member.
Representatives at the nonprofit organization could not be reached for comment Wednesday evening.
