Sequoyah School: Practicing Mindfulness in this Challenging Times
It was so great to see everyone at Sequoyah High School’s Morning Meeting yesterday. The students practiced mindfulness together as they always do, shared announcements and celebrated this week’s Birthdays (with a special guitar solo from Gabe). Sequoyah School is proud of the hard work and resilience the students are exhibiting during this challenging time. Mindfulness closed with Pearl leading everyone in a Whoosh Clap in celebration of… “our willingness to jump out of our comfort zones.”
Practicing mindfulness has been shown to strengthen areas of the brain that control various mental function and can lead to strong improvements in attention, reduced stress, anxiety and depression, and better academic skills, social skills and self-esteem. Not only are these skills essential for learning but… “they prepare our children to better manage with work-life challenges these days and in the future.”
