EF Academy Pasadena’s Organic Chemistry Students Test Their Lab Skills

EF Academy Pasadena’s Advanced Studies: Organic Chemistry students tested their lab skills this week when using different techniques for separating and isolating substances within cocoa powder. Both theobromine and caffeine are present in cocoa powder. Students were tasked with the challenge of designing a method to isolate and separate theobromine and caffeine from cocoa powder and prove that their two products are pure. EFAP Advanced Studies classes allow students to take courses often taught at a college level.
