Poly Solar Car Team Places 2nd in Classic Division at the 30th Annual Solar Car Challenge in Texas

Polytechnic School is incredibly proud of its Solar Car team, who drove a total of over 200 miles, placed in the top half of the 20 teams registered across all divisions (advanced classic, advanced, and electric solar-powered vehicle), and placed second in the classic division. You may have heard that a covid outbreak unfortunately cut the competition short, and Poly wishes a speedy recovery to those affected. PS is so proud of the positive attitudes and sportsmanship of its team.

“It was actually quite remarkable as an advisor to watch the students do what they do because we would have days where a problem would arise, it looked like it was going to end our day and the students would hunker down and figure out what was going on and figure out how to fix it and they’d fix it and then we’d continue on,” Advisor Craig Fletcher told Pasadena Now. “As a teacher, it was so impressive to watch these kids do what they did and do what they were doing.”
