A Year of Excellence Across San Marino Unified School District!



This year brought incredible achievements across SMUSD schools!

San Marino High School earned AP Platinum status from the College Board, while senior Max Zhou represented Team USA at the International Chemistry Olympiad, bringing home a gold medal and a top-20 global finish. In athletics, 12 SMHS teams advanced to CIF postseason competition.


Huntington Middle School students shone academically, achieving strong Math CAASPP results, and HMS was named the #15 Best Public Middle School in California by U.S. News & World Report.


Carver School earned State Platinum PBIS recognition, expanded its Mandarin Dual Language Immersion program, and continued powerful partnerships with its PTA, supporting everything from STEM and literacy to arts, athletics, and campus safety.


Valentine School was named a 2025 California Distinguished School and earned Platinum PBIS status.

• Staff excellence was also celebrated: Leigh Phifer was named District Teacher of the Year, and Julie Poladian and Kellee Sung were honored as Outstanding Educators by Assemblymember Mike Fong.
