AGLA Junior Emily Explores Healthcare at Shriners

Emily, an AGLA junior, spends her Fridays at Shriners for Children Medical Center, a Pasadena healthcare organization dedicated to treating pediatric patients from around the world. This is her classroom once a week as she explores healthcare careers and learns more about what drives her. She has already learned a lot in the few months she has been at the medical center. The day she stood in a surgical room observing a pediatric surgery, she knew that becoming a surgeon was out of the question. She says, “Maybe nursing is a better option.” Learning outside the classroom through hands on experiences like Em’s really takes high school learning to the next level.
