AGLA Sixth Graders Build Community at Wolf Camp

With community as this year’s sixth-grade theme, Aveson Global Leadership Academy (AGLA) found the perfect opportunity to bring that focus to life at Wolf Camp. Guided by the mantra “Challenged by Choice,” students stepped beyond their comfort zones while encouraging and supporting one another throughout the experience.

Camp highlights included a nature hike featuring lessons on medicinal plants, time exploring a nearby creek, a ropes course, and a rock-climbing tower. Students also engaged in hands-on science activities, studying fossils and animal adaptations while building battery-powered fan boats. The AGLA explorers met an amphibian and reptile expert and even had the chance to hold snakes, lizards, and tortoises.

One of the most memorable moments came during a nighttime activity in which students, blindfolded, followed the sound of a drum across a field—an exercise designed to build trust and courage. The experience showcased the sixth graders’ bravery, teamwork, and growing sense of community.
