Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Class of 2026 Explores History and Government in Washington, D.C.

Students from Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary School, Class of 2026, are currently on an unforgettable educational journey in Washington, D.C., where they continue to explore the nation’s capital through immersive, real-world learning experiences. After departing with excitement and “airport fun” marking the beginning of their travels, the class has spent their first two days visiting some of the country’s most iconic landmarks and institutions. Their itinerary has included meaningful stops at the Tidal Basin, the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, and the Thomas Jefferson Memorial, as well as a memorable White House experience at the White House. The group also visited Mount Vernon, the historic home of George Washington, along with the towering Washington Monument and the powerful Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, and Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

On their second day, students deepened their understanding of American government and history with visits to the United States Capitol, the Library of Congress, the Supreme Court of the United States, and the National Archives Building, where the nation’s founding documents are preserved. Their educational exploration also included time at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and the renowned Smithsonian Institution museums, including the National Museum of American History and the National Museum of Natural History, before ending the day with a memorable ghost tour in Alexandria. With more experiences still ahead, the trip continues to provide students with a dynamic and meaningful opportunity to connect classroom learning with the rich history and civic life of the United States.
