Aveson Global Leadership Academy Celebrates Earth Day

Aveson Global Leadership Academy students in grades 6–12 marked Earth Day with a meaningful day filled with creativity, reflection, and hands-on learning. Throughout the celebration, students participated in songwriting projects, planting activities, gratitude vines, and a special recognition of the documentary Fire Followers. The event highlighted both environmental awareness and the power of community connection.

The day also featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the school’s new mural inspired by Mary Cassatt. Students reflected on what they cherished most about their former campus, including its gardens, native plants, and meaningful gathering spaces. Those memories were transformed into a vibrant public artwork honoring resilience, personal experience, and the lasting influence of women in art.

This month-long project was made possible through a collaboration with the National Gallery of Art, Tre Borden/Co, Arts Bridging the Gap, and Bay Area mural artists Sofia and Hennessy of Studio Tutto. It was a beautiful celebration of the planet, the community, and the inspiring strength of student voices.
