Did You Know?
Southwestern Academy proudly carries a rich heritage in stained glass artistry spanning nearly six decades! Gratitude is owed to our former Headmaster, Mr. Veronda, who generously supported the establishment of a stained glass course for our art instructor, Mr. Kohn, two decades ago. Thanks to a recent grant from the Jeanne Ward Foundation, Southwestern acquired a glass fusing kiln this spring. With the introduction of this kiln, students have the opportunity to explore their artistic potential with a fresh medium. Last week, Mr. Kohn’s arts students selected glass for their glass fusing projects at Bulls Eye Glass in South Pasadena. They received assistance from a gentleman whose grandfather created stained glass mosaics during the era of Southwestern Military School!
We can’t believe our school has been crafting exquisite glass projects for decades!
