Flintridge Prep Boys Cross Country Team Opens Season at Cool Breeze Invitational

Flintridge Prep boys cross country team opened their season on Saturday evening, September 3, at the Cool Breeze Invitational. Usually held on the Brookside golf course at the Rose Bowl, the race took place at the Fairplex in Pomona. Due to the warmer weather, the non-varsity races were 1.5 miles, while the varsity races remained 3 miles.

The varsity team placed 11th out of 29 teams with Carter Sakai ’25 and Kevin Martinez ’24 leading the way. The freshmen team, led by Declan Mansbridge ’26, Luis Gorocica ’26, and William Krause ’26, took fifth place out of 31 teams in their race, which included both large and small schools. In the sophomore race, Carl Li ’25 was Prep’s leader, but the team did not have enough runners to score as a team.

The team also competed in the first league meet of the season on Tuesday and will race in the Lancer Invitational on Saturday, September 10.
