Flintridge Prep Girls Cross Country Secures League Championship Title
Flintridge Prep Girls cross country closed out their regular season in extraordinary fashion this weekend at Prep League Finals at Pierce College with League Championships for both the JV and Varsity squads.
The JV girls bested runner-up Chadwick by 42 points. Joyce Kirk ’22 finished first in the race and claimed the title of League Champion with a time of 22:46. Other runners rounding out the top 5 were Jenna Moutes ’25, Nicolle Riley ’24, Sasha Rolfe ’22, and Estee Langbord ’22.
The Varsity girls won on a tiebreak against Chadwick thanks to an incredible performance by 6th place runner Veronica Habashy ’22, who ran a 21:55, which was 1:07 faster than her personal best. Nicole Mirzaian ’22 led the pack, finishing with a time of 20:12 and narrowly outracing a competitor from Westridge in the final 50 meters. Other outstanding races came from Anya Rose ’23, Hailey Wilson ’24, Julia Bonk ’24, and Rosalina Chen ’22. The Varsity team has been crowned League Champions three times in the last five years, with the most recent victory in 2018.
