Future Doctors in Training: Westridge 4th Graders Explore Medicine

Last month, Westridge School 4th graders had the opportunity to simulate surgery and learn about work in the medical field! Led by three 4th grade parents – Certified Surgical Technologist Ray Cervantes, Dr. Cristiane Guberman, and Dr. Ashwini Lakshmanan – students performed procedures on Minion stuffies, studied the heart and brain, and got an inside look at an ultrasound using a teaching machine! The class also explored how doctors collaborate (like Dr. Guberman and Dr. Lakshmanan, who work together at Kaiser Permanente!). Westridge School thanks its volunteers for facilitating such an incredible experience.
