Marshall Eagles Girls Varsity Open Season with 3-0 Sweep of St. Monica Crusaders

On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, the Thurgood Marshall High School varsity girls volleyball team opened their season with authority, sweeping the St. Monica Academy (Montrose, CA) Crusaders in a neutral-site tournament match, 3–0, at 4:00 p.m.

The Eagles battled through a tight first set, edging the Crusaders 26–24, before taking control with a dominant 25–10 win in the second frame. They carried that momentum into the third set, closing out the sweep 25–18. The straight-sets victory gave Marshall an early winning record and highlighted their strong serve-receive, disciplined defense, and balanced transition offense.

Marshall teams compete as the Eagles, while St. Monica Academy’s athletes are known as the Crusaders—making this matchup a meeting of two tradition-rich programs in the San Gabriel Valley.
