McKinley School Student Leaders Build Communication and Conflict Resolution Skills

McKinley School is empowering students to become leaders and problem-solvers through its Peer Mediation Program, in partnership with Western Justice Center. Elementary and middle school students are developing communication, conflict resolution, and leadership skills to help their peers navigate disagreements and build positive relationships. By taking an active role in supporting one another, these young leaders are helping create a school environment where students feel safe, respected, and connected. Thank you to Western Justice Center for its continued partnership in supporting student growth and success!
Through peer mediation, students have opportunities to practice listening to different perspectives, expressing themselves respectfully, and working collaboratively toward solutions. These experiences encourage them to take responsibility for their actions, understand the importance of empathy, and approach conflicts constructively rather than allowing disagreements to escalate. By equipping students with these valuable life skills, McKinley School is helping them build the confidence to make thoughtful decisions, strengthen relationships, and contribute positively to their school community.
